I think this is my favorite pokemon game to date. They made a lot of changes to get rid of obnoxious stuff in previous games and really made it better suited for casual gameplay - battles are much quicker, with a regular battle taking at most 20 seconds, and evolutions / new moves learned / level up all take place in the background / in the inventory when you want it to. They also revamped the idea of pokemon taking one turn at a time to actually add a point to speed in casual gameplay, allowing faster pokemon to get more turns occassionally and causing moves with priority to give you extra turns. Along with other changes like non-permanent status effects, visible shinies, removal of trade evolutions, access to all three starters / all legendaries on the first playthrough and so many other big changes, this has to be the best pokemon game I played.
