When I watched the trailer I knew something seemed off. Artemis appeared nothing like how he was portrayed in the book, so naturally I went in with low expectations and yet I was still utterly disappointed watching this movie. I didn't mind that the plot was changed, but the characters lacked any introduction let alone development or arc. The magical environment was hardly explored and some of the beloved gadgets from the book were thrown in randomly. The movie felt very rushed for something that's been in the works for so long. All I have left to say is please don't make the sequel the movie was left open for.
