The game is worth it just for the emotional rollercoaster of picking a weapon if you're new to the franhise. I started playing this game immediately after release, and I hated it. I started by using a lance, a slow weapon with high defense and low damage if not used optimally. After giving the game a break for a few months I tried using a bow. The sheer increase in mobility was enough to get me back into the game. The game became a five out of five when I found the insect glaive, a weapon that uses a little insect pet to apply buffs after hitting a monster. The glaive also has a jump that can launch you above all but the tallest monster. I'm firmly in love with this game.
