Brilliant show, brilliant ending. I would definitely watch this show again and have it on my bucket list if I was preparing to die. The third season is the best by far, and I wish I cried but there was only internal tears. Ricky Gervais is labelled as “controversial” because of his ability to actually talk about the taboo and uncomfortable truths that we all are unwilling to face: that we are all gonna die one day and you only live once, it’s cliche but MAKE IT COUNT. Without Ricky Gervais’ excellent writing there is no way a show about death could top this on TV. You just fall in love with Rickys character Tony and the entire cast of characters, in fact, you finish the episode just wanting to hug everyone and hope that Tony has a good time in the After Life, reunited with Lisa, his father and the dog.

This film isn’t as good as people make it out to be. Firstly, I believe that this film was specifically for American audiences, or really ignorant people, it certainly doesn’t apply to viewers who consist of the general population of woke. I feel like the director and producers were trying too hard to get the message out there - but we aren’t nutters enough to know how vile social media can be and conspiracy theories. I know that it’s relevant now but the movie comes across as a bit smug, like all these Hollywood actors that lean left and A-List cameos are why this movie is so great. Don’t look up this film.

I’ve always been one to be sceptical of musicians acting, and when I found out that Paul Thomas Anderson directed HAIM’s music videos, I thought this was just another attempt at marketing. However, I was wrong. A stunning debut by Alana Haim from indie rock band HAIM. Alana was perfect for the part. I always thought that she was very entertaining in interviews and performances. As debut actors, both Alana and Cooper were phenomenal. Cooper isn’t the most handsome guy in the world, but his features draw you to him. There’s no way he could have been fifteen in the film though - he looked at least 18! I had no idea that the title of Licorice Pizza was named after a record store chain in California in the 70s, I just thought it was a silly name from a classic novel which Licorice Pizza is based on. But the fact that it is completely original is very significant. At least it’s not called Soggy Bottom. Expect to see lots of waterbeds people!!!!

It’s okayyyyy…I think I will need a few more episodes to watch to fully feel at home with this show. It feels like something is missing. Will Ferrell doesn’t feel Will Ferrell enough in this show, it’s like he’s trying to portray someone else, except it’s not working. There’s not enough funny gags and innuendos. Perhaps someone like Steve Carell

Having watched Veep and finished watching Parks and Rec recently, I was quite surprised when I found Mr. Mayor as a new satirical TV show. I originally dismissed this show thinking it as another attempt at American politics, but after watching a few episodes I really enjoyed it. Maybe because this is the only political comedy show that is set in the now, in the time of Twitter, pandemics, Shawn Mendes and “finsta”, I love all the Millennial references. Having Orly as a character who aspires to be a leader is maybe leaning the show towards younger (Zoomer) audiences, compared with other shows, which I love the idea of. Ted Danson is admittedly a bit too old to play Orly’s father, I think grandfather would suit better. However he is great for his role, tall, goofy and charismatic, perfect to play a political role. The episode about Orly fretting about life being a permanent high school was brilliant, and shows the clever writing behind the show. I can’t wait for season 2!

Better than I thought! At first I thought this was gonna be a per usual, 2000s cliched chick flick. But it’s more than that! I LOVE the storyline about Lola and Ella’s friendship and the way that they bond over a rockstar, who ends up hanging out with them. A teenage girl’s dream! Lola’s dad looks like Lou Reed lol. I think this film is so underrated compared to all the other 2000s films out there. A must watch! Stu Wolff sounds like Harry Styles.

I admit I expected too much when watching this film adaptation of the book Stargirl by Jerry Spinelli, as Stargirl is one of my all-time favourite books, so I was guaranteed to feel a bit disappointed. However, it wasn’t like this film was disappointing - It definitely represented the original story in many great ways, but I couldn’t help feeling that some major bits were missing. It didn’t take long for me to realise the core parts of the original: -Señor Saguaro. Without the cactus around and ciggy Archie seemed less wise. -The intense Hot Seat Scene. Stargirl being interviewed on Hot Seat wasn’t as intense enough, I didn’t feel a strong connection between the supporting cast, including the girl that was supposed to play Hillari Kimble. In the original book the students are yelling and heckling at Stargirl whilst she is trying to be interviewed. I know that this movie wants to stay away from copying too much from the book, but it is an adaptation after all and still needs some continuity. I would have liked to see more speaking parts for Hillari, there weren’t enough and she is a major character. -Dori Dilson. I know that she is a minor character and only close friend of Stargirl’s, but I would have liked to see more of her and her friendship with Stargirl. I did like that they swapped the Hot Seat bit around - Unlike the original, Stargirl declined to appear as a guest on Hot Seat but eventually decided to after the football fiasco. Overall, an emotional, heartwarming movie. Not quite up to standard but surely I will be watching the sequel.

Awkward, awkward, awkward! But somehow I like it, mainly cuz I’ve been born and bred in Tassie. I haven’t really laughed my head off but it’s not that sort of humour. My dad summed it up best when he said “internal laughter”. Luke and Celia have great chemistry and it shows. Luke is the shy, awkward, bullied kid that we all were. Celia is the eccentric, loving, enthusiastic best friend that we wish we had but never got to meet. “I DONT WANT IIIIIIIIT” still catches in my head to this day it should be my ringtone. Not the funniest show in the world, but gotta give these guys credit for having 5 seasons, since Australian comedies go nowhere that far.
