I stand with Whoopi. I believe that Stephen Colbert explained it best during his interview with her. His explanation was global where I think Whoopi's was on her life experiences. This situation has been a huge learning experience for me. These conversations have been very enlightening. I feel that Whoopi says what's on her mind and if you don't like it she doesn't care. This time she cared. She was presented with a global explanation that made her take a step back and have a better understanding of the word racism. She never once minimized what happened during the holocaust - it was horrific. and believed it was white on white crime so it could not be racist. I looked up the word racism - a person who is prejudiced against or antagonistic toward people on the basis of their membership in a particular racial or ethnic group, typically one that is a minority or marginalized. I never understood that, I thought it was based on color. This is another reason why we should teach this in school and quit white washing everything. Knowledge is wisdom. I hope Whoopi comes back to the view and is not damaged by this. Because of her I have learned something very important. By the way - I am a white older women who is neither black or Jewish. So these conversation are helpful to me. Thank you Whoopi, I don't always agree with you but you do make me think.
