Mahabharat was a highly favourite serial of mine despite few shortcomings. Overall, story flow was fairly quick, acting was mostly excellent and the canvas was opulent.
Casting director had done a rather fantastic job - to an extent where almost every actor/actress fit the bill of given character to the T!
Whether Dhritrashtra or Gandhari or Duryodhan....Shrikrishna or Arjun or Karna or Draupadi - all folks did really well..
I think Goofy Paintal as Shakuni Mama did so well that at times he dwarfed many other characters irrespective of their positive negative roles.
Similarly Mukesh Khanna as Bhishm Pitamah stood tall over everything else - he was the angry young man, angry old man and everything in between!!
It is not a joke that even today after 30+ years, it is still finding popularity among people of India during its re-run.
Mahabharat is not just a story - it is an epic that touches every possible angle of human life and mind.
If there is an equivalent of Sholay on small screen, this is it!
