Contrary to popular opinion, this movie was well thought out with a compelling story line that defies the doomed fate of legacy sequels. The movie begins with an awkward but necessary transition from 2003 Revolutions to 2021 Resurrection. The challenges were multifold, including drastic changes in cinematography, CGI and (perhaps most importantly) social consciousness. At its inception, The Matrix pioneered not only modern theatrics, but also a radical way of thinking. Embedded within its quintessential action scenes is the courage to question the very definition of what constitutes reality. Resurrections goes beyond the original trilogy, using the Analyst to highlight the fact that mere awareness of what reality is/is not is no longer enough. The relevant question becomes that of choice--what do we choose to do given said awareness? The creation of the Analyst to supersede the Architect to "understand human psychology in order to control them better" is evermore relevant in a time where humanity, desires and (critically) fear are leveraged to sway the masses in a way that defines and redefines lived life experiences. The necessity of Resurrections cannot be overstated; the value of the film becomes conspicuous if one pays attention and dares to think.
