Very disappointed with this series. Netflix usually has a high bar for quality and this feels like such a disjointed and rushed project. I love history and the Romans have an especially near and dear place in my heart. This could of been something really special but it brushes and skips by some incredible events that give context and flavor to the stories they are trying to relay to us. I'm almost halfway in the fourth episode for Julius Caesar and I can't watch anymore. I was trying to watch these if not for historical entertainment, than at least a cinematic rendition of it. But I'm pretty bored and tired of raising my eyebrows for everything they decided to leave out. Some incredibly fascinating stuff is left by the way side because to my best guess it would muddy up the plot or take too much time. In which case why bother? Do you know the Catiline conspiracy? Well you wouldn't from this show either. The gang wars in Rome between Clodius and Milo are misrepresented and displaced in time, and where is Cato and Cicero? I haven't seen the other entries with Caligula and Commodus, maybe they are better told, but If they can't make one of the most fascinating characters in history an interesting watch, I have low expectations. I don't like to review without finishing at least the chapter but I can't go on, hopefully the assassination arc is handled better. If you like Mike Duncan in the show though I highly recommend one of his podcasts. The History of Rome podcast hosted by him is very well done! Which is one reason I'm big sad with this show =(
