I really wanted to like this movie. I'm a huge fan of Floria Sigsomondi's work and I love a good spooky thriller from Canada. Confusing and not scary, this movie seemed to be trying too hard to be a Hill House story. It even has the misogynistic ghost type character and the sad nanny, also a ghost, he controlled. The boy child who I think is being possessed by the dude and uses to help terrorizing the new nanny who was running away from their past. I say "I think" only because, was he? Not clear at all because The Turning's story was weak and without direction. I couldn't even tell you why this movie was called The Turning. The effects were ok but didn't do much to help carry what story there was. And why were there 2 endings? Neither made any sense? Disappointed.
