We regularly travel to NZ for holidays and to catch up with friends and have traveled through both Auckland and Christchurch airports.
We once fell foul of the quarantine regs when we still had an apple that had been given out on the flight "down", we declared it and it was binned and we were given appropriate words of advice,
We have always found the border staff in NZ to be friendly and helpful unlike the staff in the USA which we pass through on the way to NZ from the UK. The border staff in the USA are generally unfriendly and overbearing, though there have been a couple of notable exceptions in the 20+ years that we have been travelling to NZ via the USA.
On a couple of occasions as we have passed through Auckland airport they had been filming Border Patrol though we've never seen the cameras or seen ourselves when it has been broadcast in the UK.
Border Patrol is currently shown daily mid-afternoon on TV in the UK and while working from home due to COVID-19 restrictions it serves as a late lunch break and a reminder of happy times travelling to NZ.
We had to cancel our January 2021 trip due to COVID-19 so hopefully things will be better for a trip in January 2022.
