I wanted to like it. Great cast and acting. However, the script is largely
shallow, obvious, too easy and predictable. The first half of the movie is
yelling , yelling and more F-bomb yelling.. The movie presents as a
cheerful family comedy but the loaded language and violent images called
up by ,especially Melissa McCarthy, are not helpful to problem solving.
Mr. Apatow has a "blind spot" regarding the deleterious affects of
violent language disguised as simple family "venting" . Movies can
elevate society - this is a half-hearted wishy-washy effort in that vein -
aimed primarily at white, middle-class Americans .
