Erle Chenney

I was in high school when this movie came out, and being so rude and crude of course we couldn't get enough of it. I think we learned every line. Written in part by Mel Brooks and Richard Pryor, it is still a hilarious classic to this day. Probably the best satirical western ever. This film along with Brooks' Young Frankenstein may be the funniest duo ever. I'd watch this movie just for the campfire scene.

Evil is a great change of pace from most of the suspense/horror shows on network tv. It doesn't try to be something it isn't, while at the same time be quite effective at creeping you out or making you wonder what just happened. It pulls it off without having to be overly bloody and gory like most streaming shows on these days. The writing is intelligent and well-paced, while the actors do a great job in their roles. I like the fact that you have a different story each week instead of having to keep up with a running story line, but it still keeps some major characters in each episode when needed. The other thing I like about the characters is they all have their own flaws, not one of them being perfect. Just ordinary people put in extraordinary situations, not asking the viewer to believe or not in the supernatural or the teachings of the church. Plenty of demons, ghosts, creepy characters (including kids), and even some funny moments, Evil is a fun and well-done change of pace. I highly recommend it.

This movie really surprised me. I was expecting another lame cheap slasher film, and instead this film is smart, funny, and really well-acted. The plot is like Groundhog Day, except this has a college sorority girl who is self-centered and mean reliving her death on her birthday. She cleverly wakes up every day closer to finding out who her killer is, but gets weaker in the process. The twist ending really twists more than once, so just when you think you have it figured out for you, you are totally wrong. Again, this movie is smart, funny, and well worth your time.
