First things first, I'm a huge fan of 'Wonder Woman' as a character and DC movies in general. I absolutely loved the first movie.
This one however, not so much. Forget plot holes, the plot in itself was quite weak. It seemed like everything was put together in a hurry. Even a weak plot, if executed well can make for a decent movie, but that simply wasn't the case here.
The performances were lackluster.
Pedro Pascal's Maxwell Lord was too over the top, Kristen Wigg as Cheetah was just okay, while Chris Pine's Steve Trevor was bearable. Gal Gadot has an amazing screen presence and is pretty convincing as Wonder Woman, but of course that's not enough to save the movie, when the story itself is not compelling.
The movie did have a few delightful scenes/sequences: ( Spoiler Alert!)
1. The opening scene (Themyscira)
2. The invisible jet scene
3. Diana learns to fly
4. Wonder Woman Golden Eagle Armour fight sequence with Cheetah
5. Lynda Carter's guest appearance
What worries me the most is that Warner Bros. has already green lit 'Wonder Woman 3' with Patty Jenkins returning as writer/director.
All I can hope for is that she takes all the criticism that the movie has garnered objectively and seriously. I hope she uses it to make an amazing third movie.
I also hope the audience doesn't lose interest in the character, just because of one poor movie.
