Takes the best parts of the old star treks and adds exciting sci-fi elements that are well executed. Also tones down the soap opera Romances that were quite honestly my least favourite aspect of the old ST shows. Everyone's been poopooing the cast and alot of the plot devices and characters, but I have a sneaking suspicion most of them are just long time die hard Trekkies that dislike change. If you liked TNG but couldn't bare the terrible jumps into the past to relive Sherlock Holmes types of episodes, you won't have ensure that sort of thing in Star Trek Discovery. It is focused and has much less one-off irrelevant episodes that add nothing to the narrative. Sign of the times I guess. May discovery live long and prosper. Peace out nerds.
