I went to watch this film because I’d seen the trailer and thought it might be fun. Being a fan of English literature I assumed that this musical film might be enjoyable. There was no context given at the beginning of the film and I went into it blindly on the assumption it would be a work of art. The opening features an outline of a human dumping what you’d assume to be a kitten or small cat in a bag into the road. Then the human drives off and it zooms right in to what can only be described as chaos. I only watched 20 minutes of this film before I asked my carer if we could leave as it was disturbing. Rebel Wilson’s scene lying on her back and scratching her CGI cat suit crotch was extremely unsettling. I love Rebel Wilson she is an amazing comedian but this film seems to have made a cringeworthy mockery of her. I did not understand the plot for this film or what it was about. Other than reincarnation to be born again into a better life. And something about having three names. And what is a jellicle cat when it’s at home and where can we wipe it from existence. I did not enjoy the film at all from what I did see. I asked for a refund and it was refused. Reel cinema Burnley. Never going there again. Disgusted.
