Why we would want it to be exactly like the original movie? I dont know? All the songs were amazing the anamation gave a feel for the orginal without making it exactly the same. Emily was PERFECT I thought the cameos were cute, not necessary but cute, it gave you the the warm fuzzy feeling of the orginal movie. Don't go if you want to see the original or a remake. It's not a remake, in a good way. I agree the length takes it out of the "kid movie" genre as in our viewing we had about 10 little kids running about the theater bored out of their mind. It's for people who love smart musicals and amazing dancing. The three kids were amazing too. The men dancing on the light poles was one of the best parts. This is modern while a period piece and will be a classic like the original. Must see if you love MUSICALS and entertaining even if you don't.
