I was able to watch this movie tonight. I grew up in the church and remember hearing of this tragedy. Seeing a reenactment through the eyes of the journalist, Mr. Banerjee, was a great perspective to take. With the religious climate of today's world, the story of the Staines family focuses on love and forgiveness which are two acts this world needs more of. The storyline and tone points toward the hostility of religious conversion but the revelation comes when seeing the love shown by each member of the Staines family to those lepers in India who were casted out or unloved by society. This reenactment showed how Missionary Graham was moved and called to lovingly serve the lepers and, though this special and divine love, converted many. It also showed how Missionary Gladys stood alongside in love to forgive those who ultimately took her husband and children's lives. This movie was humbling and really thought provoking and I am glad I was able to watch it. Christian or not, this movie is a must see!
