I was disappointed a lot by what happened in 2020, then by how 2021 started it seemed like the trend would continue. It’s not an exaggeration to say that seeing this movie has literally confirmed that 2021 sucks and will continue to disappoint daily.
Plot line is all over the place. Nothing that happens is a believable story line. Dozens of unanswered questions were prompted by how they told the story.
Most of the actors are decent and can shine in their own light but somehow have managed to be stifled by the movies underlying tone.
Everyone suddenly is meant to be special with their own super power. Spoiler alert-
Dom- muscles large enough to bring down a building.
Roman- bulletproof and more accurate hip fire techniques than a trained assassin.
Tege- smart enough to make calculations and prep work for a car to launch into outer space.
Mia- emotional support icon with enough influence to turn a revenge sought sibling into an ally just by making contact with him.
Han- ability to be in three places at once to fake his death. (In the car, on the street, and behind mr. nobody)
Almost everything that happened was without purpose- spoiler
Ramsey is a supper smart tech girl who can’t drive. To crash a satalite they literally launch two guys at it with a car instead of digitally linking to it and shutting it down.
Han had a decent write off when they killed him in Tokyo drift and then they almost outdid it when they used the footage of his death in a second story line. Now they brought him back just hide in plain sight and protect a girl whose only role in the film was to connect two halves of a sphere. Had they faked HER death, nothing else need have happened on this front.
Roman literally takes out a small army with a machine gun and by shooting randomly where he sees movement. The only purpose of this over the top scene was to convince the character that he was bullet proof. If that was the goal why didn’t they just have a single guy chasing him and shoot at him instead of building him up to be a super soldier with reflexes tied into a spidey sense?
Dom- last movie forgave and worked with a guy that literally murdered his best friend (originally Han, but he was given another story line) but then this film he is ‘triggered’ by his own brothers existence because he made a poor decision that led to his dads death decades ago.
Mia was literally roped into this movie just so that she could hold her brothers hand in one scene. Aside from that she offered nothing throughout the entire film.
This was supposed to be the conclusion of a solid franchise and instead were left with a purposeless story being told about characters that look like people from the last films but have completely different motives and actions throughout this film.
2021’s latest let down is that someone thought this was a decent way to end things. Kudos to that dude for killing it on the long con of show business.
