As a big girl myself who got the hot guy and married him, I’m puzzled why so many reviews think that this part of the story is so unrealistic... I thought Willowdean came off as quirky and confident at the start of the movie which can be very attractive. Yes, Willowdean had her own emotional and physical issues to deal with throughout but I thought this movie managed to capture how a young person works through these things. Nobody is the best person, friend, daughter all the time and I’m glad they didn’t sugarcoat that. Was this movie a little cheesy- sure, but it shows the journey of self acceptance. This journey was not exclusive for the main character.. many of the characters dealt with coming to terms with who they were and who they wanted to be. I would recommend it for a lazy day if you have 2 free hours to burn.
