I really, really disliked this movie. Everything they changed about it felt completely unnecessary. Her family name, really? Changing it from Fa to Hua? I mean... Ok, but why? You've got this mystical Qi power floating around that's basically exactly like the Force. Where the heck did THAT come from? Mulan knows how to use it and is shown being a near invincible badass right from the beginning, as a child, with no training or guidance, exactly like Rey in The Force Awakens. You've got a Force witch who turns into a bird helping the bad guy, like in Star Wars: the Battle for Endor? You've got Jet Li, a legendary martial arts star, playing the Emperor and the most badass thing he does is catch an arrow. Once. Really terrible special effects in the fight scenes, like REALLY bad. Like Kung Fu Hustle except they aren't TRYING to be funny here. There should be a negative rating available, one star is too much for this dumpster fire of a movie.
