While the base concept is a good one, it feels like the author brings in other aspects that is just a bit of a stretch, claiming that society believes a female abandoning a child is equivalent to a male SAing someone was just untrue in my eyes (while I'm sure certain circles would believe that I don't believe it's even close to a majority) I also had an issue with comparing recovering addicts (which the author is) to people such as Harvey Weinstein, the point of recovery is to take responsibility, while Monsters will die defending their actions. Another point made was that consumers of anything are at some fault was also one that lost me, someone born into a system that has existed before them and has no power to change said system is not guilty, they are the victim of said system. Despite my criticisms, it's still worth a read, more of a feminist book than a book talking about beloved people doing bad things in my opinion.
