I was thinking, there werenโt many good sci-fiction movies over the years even though film tech has advanced so much! I figured if the excellent/classic sci-fiction movie like 2001 a space odyssey didnโt have significant special effects; a good script or the way to tell a story is the key of an interesting movie. I am an Isaac Asimov fan and I wonder why no one dared to invest into a series or few parts of a movie? When the news came out, I was excited. I understand it can be hard to bring the story alive, yet it is possible. I never dreamed the writers used just the names of the book and some characters to write their own stories. It is totally fine with them to write their own stories, but why used the name โFoundationโ, Seldon, Raych, Demerzel and Hardin with nothing else in attach? Did the investors and writers think if they used the name โFoundationโ and then all the fans would sign up to Apple TV? After 3 episodes, I stopped watching it. Be honest, I donโt really care what happened to Dornick or Hardin because I couldnโt relate the new characters to the books I read. I also couldnโt โdevelop a connectionโ to the new created characters. It is not the actressโs faults.
Many stated it is hard to make a good movie out of a book! I think not. I just saw โDuneโ. I enjoyed it very much and couldnโt wait for the part II. The movie followed mostly the storyline of the book and make it even better than reading the book. Therefore, it is possible to make a good series or movie from a book. It requires vision and skills. It is ashamed โFoundationโ seemed lacking of both.
