Overrated, Underwhelming
DARK, the highly rated German Netflix Sci-Fi thriller, comes up with the done to death, but wonderfully written premise of time travel. This proverbial slow burn series grows on the viewer as the series accelerates through three seasons. It compels the viewer to sit up, pay attention, and stays with the viewer much longer after the viewing is complete.
The best season was S2, with plot twists from Episode 5 onwards, it hooks the viewer. S3, the final season, left me disappointed and underwhelmed. The investment of time that a viewer makes in watching seven hurriedly shot episodes in S3 in the run up to the finale episode eight is not justified.
Kudos to the writers and directors for tying all loose ends and justify a befitting final episode. The last 40 minutes of S3E8 is edge of seat stuff, as the viewer yearns for normalcy to be restored for the show's protagonists.
I'm glad there's no season 4.
