Mediocre garbage. Shallow plot, one-dimensional and irredeemable characters, nonsensical story and a complete flat-lined emotional experience. There are no underlying intricacies; the director was a step below holding placards and narrating the whole message. I fail to understand this movie's win, given that the Oscars had such a rich history of commendable features. Were the judges purposely aiming low with their ratings in an effort to reach desensitized demographics? Where are all of these sycophants coming from? Has the world been completely shut out of Asian cinema until last year? This is at best a mediocre, forgettable film, in comparison to many other Asian flicks.
