I'm sure I will step on many people's toes by saying this, but if people on one side, "western nationalists" as I'll call them, are whining about how biased the show is in favor of the Ottomans, while people on the other side, "Turkish nationalists" as I'll call them, are whining about how the show is biased in favor of the Romans, then I think it is entirely fair to say the show is relatively balanced all in all and may bias either way depending on what it is discussing.
Also, this show is meant to depict history; as much as it may upset you, historical figures often do not live up to the glamorized pictures painted by sources - whether slanted in favor of or against them. This is double for the period; I would recommend no one get enthralled with a vision of a ruler that was likely never true, and then mark down the production for not portraying it.
