The writing itself is decent enough. Halfway through the book the story turned repetitive. And perhaps emotions can be repetitive. By the 2/3rds point, both characters and the “plot” were boring 🥱 . Teenage angst spilling into your thirties screams arrested development.

History intertwines with fiction in this period drama. Costumes, settings, dazzling displays of medieval banquets and galas are entertaining. Heavy on the Melodrama punctuated by some sloppy writing and incorrect grammar causes intermittant eye rolls. Sadly, the dishy Sebastian is a complete fabrication, he never existed, but he is a boon to the story. It is probably best to approach this lengthy series with no knowledge of history whatsoever.

Wolf is a terrible interviewer. Barr walked all over him. Probably the only interviewer on cnn he would sit for. Except maybe Dana.
