"CONSPIRACY-TRIAL OF THE CHICAGO 8" was an exceptional 1987 HBO videotaped TV movie that Jeremy Kegan wrote and directed, and featured an amazing cast of actors playing the defendants and lawyers in this historic courtroom drama concerning the eight people who were charged by the government for undermining the 1968 Chicago Democratic convention with riots and protests. Actor David Opotashu gave an exceptional performance as "Judge Julius Hoffman", while veteran actors Robert Loggia and Elliot Gould also gave amazing performances as defense attorneys, "Bill Kunstler" and "Wineglass", while Harris Yulin and Brian Benben played the opposing attorneys-but the actors playing the Chicago 8 defendants get great praises here, especially Micheal Lembeck's version of "Abby Hoffman", which was well played, along with Peter Boyle as "David Dellinger", Robert Carradine as "Rennie Davis", Barry Miller as "Jerry Rubin", but higher praise to Carl Lumbly as "Bobby G Seale" in what was likely a very superior TV drama that was both Emmy worthy, and played creatively expertly, while the actual Chicago 8 defendants and Lawyer Bill Kunstler also appeared as themselves to give their accounts of this trial through visual excerpts, making this videotaped TV movie highly and historically authentic and superior!
