June Bug

I thought it was brilliant. Cooper did an outstanding job behind and in front of the camera in his depiction of the deeply complicated genius of Bernstein. Cary Mulligan was fantastic. Both Oscar-worthy to a T. The cinematography and lighting were also beautiful.

I found it unrealistic and implausible. Genuinely poor Irish have a brogue so thick outsiders can barely understand it, or not at all, bad teeth and worn out clothes and shoes. The main characters in this story have none of these things. They are refined and look more like misplaced Irish Middle Class that are living in someone else’s home. It bothered me the entire film. I know people from that time and that part of Ireland. It was way rougher than that.
