It's hard not to feel disappointed at how this film ended after such a brilliant start. Sadly my takeaway is one of a movie copying several other films I won't name in order to avoid obvious spoilers. Saltburn uses extreme and novel sex scenes, bordering on the outrageous, to grab attention. These certainly add shock, but limited value as they ultimately struggle to save the plot. The characters are well cast and initially adorable. However, the climactic flashback scenes are so predictable that they spoil the storyline. Yet the acting is brilliant, most notably from Rosamund Pike and Barry Keoghan who both build the narrative perfectly. Meanwhile Richard E Grant plays an exceptional Richard E Grant. Overall an extremely engaging film which just falls short.
