Spoiler alert! Wait... there is nothing to spoil, that would require a plot. Paterson forsakes story-telling staples like character development, tension, and narrative, aiming to be understated. Occasionally we are treated to shockingly bad poems, reminiscent of Deep Thoughts by Jack Handy. Good performances considering the utter lack of depth or interest given to the characters, and a nice musical score, but otherwise vastly uninteresting. The events unfold in the span of a week, which is how long it feels like it takes for this one-trick pony to hobble embarrassingly to the finish line.
