What an amazing book, I cried all the way through and felt so physically heart sore, a hard book to read about South Africa's past, but I couldn't put the book down. There is a wonderful connection to the characters and how we were included in Johnny's journey, in uncovering the people and the story. There is so much more to this this book, in the relationship between the writer and Fusi, and the writer and tge unfolding story and about truth, it is so tender and heart wrending at tge same time. This book has left a mark on my heart and I will carry this story with me forever. Thank you. A must read putting this into my book club. Going off to but another book by the author.

I loved this novel. I found it on the reduced section of books which always worries me but had read another of his books which I adored and could not put down. I read the other reviews which are not good so there might be something wrong with me. I loved this book, I loved everything about it , the crazy intertwined stories of the three characters, of love , the difficulty of marriage, familiarity and paranoia. I think this is why I loved his other book , the way he touches on our humaness and the brokenness of it. I love it when you find a book that you can devour in two days that gives you faith in reading, when you feel heartbroken that the story has ended because you were so immersed in it . Its quirky and odd and real in a crazy way.. a must read for me!
