I just recently came back from a roadtrip to Australia, admittedly I did not got all over, just camped from Sydney to Melbourne, but having lived in Hawaii for over 10 years, I was struck by how little respect the Australians give their indigenous people, it was very lacking. There were many signs about saying how the acknowledge the first peoples, but I felt it meant very little to most locals. The stewardship of the land was in good hands, as it was in Hawaii, but when the Europeans took over, they could have gained so much more knowledge of the land if they would have worked alongside the indigenous. The feeling of loss and destruction of the Aboriginal Peoples way of life was palpable to me, and I as a visitor was deeply saddened at this. Thank you for letting me have my say, I am just sharing an honest opinion. Mahalo
