I am genuinely surprised with the number of positive reviews.this film seems to be getting here.
I like a solid sci-fi story with a disaster foundation, so the premise of this movie intrigued me, it sounded promising and the plot is plausible, albeit remote. Perhaps my senses have been dulled by 2 months of living in a coronavirus quarantine, resulting in solitary confinement lunacy,
I cant imagine that I could watch this series if I was of sound mind and spirit. Started watching it and fell asleep somewhere in the second episode and forgot to set the timer on the TV, so just enough bits and pieces got through to me while I slept, to encourage me watch it all the following day.
This must be a classic example of a screenplay developed from a good
(I assume) book. I say that because I.M.O. this was a waste of an afternoon. Only 1,maybe 2 of the actors were even remotely believable. They made me think about some of the big star, big budget movies Howard Hughes produced and directed, with the acting being so terrible that he was embarrassed to release them, cost be damned, a few of those are still stashed for eternity.
Were there ANY technical advisers or script supervisors employed on this project? If the answer is no, that explains an awful lot. If the answer is yes, they need to try to get their old day jobs back. The technical failures in the story were so blatant and numerous that my 10 year old grand daughter caught many of them on her own, because so many of the flaws related to the most basic items, airplane 101.
Just one example; airliner, with REVERSE.....MULTIPLE TIMES!! huh?
We like to leave the closed captions on as a teaching tool for the younger kids, but between the english translation and
caption/audio inaccuracies, even I had a hard time keeping up with dialog.
Take no joy in being critical of peoples hard work. These are probably a young enthusiastic film makers struggling to break into the industry with maximum energy, but minimum resources. Hope they take my criticism constructively, and up their game for the next project. If not, I just cant see the opportunity for a 3rd strike.
Into the night represents a bright, warm, beautiful spring Saturday afternoon, and 8 cold beers that I can never get back.
