I'm not a huge fan of this game. In all honesty, I didn't want to play this game, my husband practically forced me to try it. The story is railroaded. I played a thief, and got to customize it according to how I wanted to play it. The choice I chose was to be sneaky sneaky, infiltrate and spy. Assassinate if necessary, but leave no trace I was there. Is that how my story plays out? No. I kill everything in sight like a regular MMORPG. When they ask my character if I want to leave survivors, I don't actually get to choose. The choice is already made whether I, the player, actually agree if it is the right course of action, which so far I have disagreed with practically every decision.
And my sneaky sneaky infiltration missions happen regardless of how sneaky I am. For instance, my first mission I was trying to get used to the controls, and I completely lost sight of my marks for a bit, but that didn't stop the story from progressing like I was watching them the entire time. They were saying things like "Aaah, so THAT'S where they are hiding!" and I was like "Where? throw me a bone here, I'm lost." and then there was dialogue that occurred as i ran around finding out where everyone was, and then I was forced to kill everyone despite the fact that nobody needed to know i was there.
The game has nice mechanics where you can send things directly to your bank wherever you are with the click of a button, and warp points everywhere. But there isn't much in the way of a tutorial. Nothing that really pops out and makes you pay attention like this might be important. You can join end game boss fights and earn loot for it, but as someone who doesn't know the story, I just show up to where everyone is like "Yo! Boss fight people! Let's GOOOO!" and then run around the battlefield throwing a few attacks at the boss and trying not to die.
There's random events that occur which both makes the game more exciting and confusing at the same time. Cause you'll be like "okay I gotta go around and kill some ghosts until i fill this gauge and i can get my reward. Oh whats this? A random event is starting! An escort quest, ok, lets go. Alright now where am I and what was I doing? It makes it hard for people who have ADHD (like my husband) to stay on task, if there is a specific task to be had. If you like to have a specific goal in mind, its not a great game. I play for hours and still have no idea what we're doing, where we are going, or why we are doing it. If you like to putter around until something exciting happens that may completely derail you, its probably great for you.
