It's a good movie, the animation is amazing but would I re-watch it a second time? No, would I let any future children I may have watch this movie? not really. WARNING SPOILERS: I just feel like the movie invalidated Raya's feelings/emotions, I mean she was traumatized by what happened to her tribe and we're supposed to believe that Raya is at fault for not blindly trusting the root cause of her trauma? from someone who has been hurt and betrayed once I completely understand why Raya wouldn't trust Namarri, I mean why should she? not only did she betray her, cause her entire tribe but herself to turn into stone and has done nothing but hunt her down with wildcats and warriors and spears for the past 6 years, well damn, I'd probably worry about Raya's mental state if she didn't have any trust issues, there's also the fact that at the end instead of Namarri acknowledging her mistakes, she instead places the sole blame on Raya for Sisu's death, not only that we're just supposed to believe that Raya, the woman with severe trust issues, to just trust the person who not only gave her trauma, hunted her down and turned her whole tribe into stone and has done nothing to rectify her mistakes nor ask for forgiveness, for Raya to just trust her because a naïve dragon said so? Trust works both ways, if one person does not give you a reason to trust them, especially if this person betrayed or hurt you, why should you trust them? trust works both ways and this movie did not show it. In fact as someone who knows what Raya is feeling I left watching this movie completely downtrodden and misunderstood, and instead of feeling happy for Raya I feel sorry for her, and the way this movie executed their lesson is not something I want any future children of mine to learn lest they get kidnapped.
