Today's show (6/28/19) disturbed me a great deal. Granted, in a complex family situation, it's not easy to deal with every issue within an hour (or less, given commercials). However, the mother Jennifer is allowing her son to walk all over her because she was abused by her deceased husband. Her self-worth is non-existent. Before she can do any positive parenting, let alone "commando" parenting, her own issues need healing. Her son is now the male of the house and he is following the role model that he was shown by his father. And his mother has learned not to stand up to the male of the house. Before this can change, her issues need attention and at least on the show as broadcast, those issues were totally ignored. Domestic violence is not okay even when the perpetrator is deceased. The intervention needs to start with the mother, not the son.
