The characters are indeed lovable and the visuals were powerful. Radwimps was a plus and the cast for the voice acting was also well picked (Kaji Yuki for one lol.) The plot was engaging enough and I understand it's also about coming of age with that Catcher in the Rye reference. But it still left some questions unanswered.
It focused more on romance. And I think it was a little cheesy. I think a lot of ppl are biased just bc of Shinkai's previous works. But I really felt like this movie chose what people would prefer to see inatead and feel good about it rather than having a subtle complexity of what the artist/author would do without thinking on how to please the audience instead. Would've liked it more if there a positive conclusion with regards to the conflict of the story. It's an amazing concept but somehow I felt left out in the dark. I guess that's youth? "The immature yet honest feelings for someone and getting in terms with it." I'd give it a 7/10.
