Not having read the book I didn’t have a basis of comparison and thus found it engrossing and captivating. I thought the acting was excellent and particularly so because the central character Marie was played by a blind actor to match that of the character in the novel. The other major characters were also strong. Many who have read the book are critical of the adaptation so those people may be disappointed with the series. However as someone who has read a lot of WWII fiction I did find the historical representation compelling.

This is a great show to see many parts of the world and learn some interesting and often unique aspects cultural aspects. This year’s’ group is less appealing than prior years, particularly the team of Will and James. Sure hope they lose.
