First, I own and love the original trilogy, especially the first Matrix. Second, I was surprised to see this advertised on HBO Max so I decided to watch it before seeing it in the theater. I was extremely disappointed. Neo had lost his original vigor, the old characters that I loved such as Morpheus had been replaced by ineffective pretenders; the script was totally confusing; the flashbacks to the original films seemed redundant; the fight scenes were poorly choreographed; and the new characters seemed contrived. The old magic and anticipation were gone. I did not understand the reason this film was created except it was supposed to be a love story between Neo and Trinity that endured through time and death. I would not recommend this film to anyone and I will not see it at the theater. I’m sorry Matrix fans, I was hoping for a better sequel.

Terrible sequel to a really great first movie of the series. I agree with much of the previous audience reviews. That is, the ones with one star.
