Kanchenjungha, an original screenplay by Satyajit Ray, is a film way ahead of its time. The film offers some peek in Ray’s understanding of love between two persons. Set in the picturesque beauty of Darjeeling, around a high class family, the story slowly unravels the different layers of love with great ease and clarity. What Ray successfully establishes is that the common perception of love among general people is nothing but an extension of the sense of security. And more importantly, even if a person has all qualities of being loved (character of Mr. Bannerjee) it is perfectly okay for him to not attain love from the person of his interest. Love is too complicated to follow certain formula or method. Another beautiful point of the movie is the depiction of human emotions through changing weather. Nature plays its role with full glory in shaping the decisions made by the characters. Watch it and reboot your understanding of love.
