This was one of my favorite films at TIFF - perhaps because I went to see it with little preconception and certainly didn't expect it to be was so gripping and full of suspense. I'm sure that my being Jewish made the story more personal to me but I don't really think it would be at all confusing for someone who had little knowledge of Jewish culture.
