This is a pretty simple film, that avoids detail and intricacies that would make it more boring. Authentic, not speaking English helps. It depicts a country that does not yet understand the politics and speed of a new form of warfare, during a time when most European nations had only recently achieved the operational preparedness of world war I. Also the futility of attempting to be a neutral Nation without the military to make it a threat. The world had to learn that offensive capability was the only defense, in a new rapidly expanding war, that had been planned better than any other wars prior. The only Nations that could remain neutral, were the ones that were not useful at the moment. During world war II there were four very clear superpowers. Germany, russia, Japan, and the United States. Germany with its high level of aggression, advanced planning, and esprit decor became the ultimate foe. A country and army that was the single greatest threat to the entire world since Genghis Khan. And was only beaten by a combination of incredible sacrifice, fantastic innovation by many nations, and the human quality to recognize evil and fight it.
