I'm a hypnotherapist (from a state licensed school) and this film was brought to my attention by a client; it shows many myths about hypnosis. It intimates that the lead character has no control of the hypnotic state and experiences amnesia about the session. Nothing could be further from the truth; individuals have complete control and can remember everything. It's also false that only a small percentage of people can be hypnotized. All hypnosis is self-hypnosis so everyone and anyone can be hypnotized who isn't fearful; it requires trust and motivation. They're simply in the Alpha state, which is the state of mind (relaxed) before sleep. The individual accepts the suggestions of the hypnotist, who facilitates the session. I cannot hypnotize anyone without their knowledge, cooperation and consent.
