Absolutely needless sequel to the already hit original. This has truly destroyed the reputation of all those who worked hard to make the first movie a hit. From the plot to the buildup, nothing worked here. And dont get me started on the musical part. It may be the single most reason for the unbearable experience. Bottom line: They should've just kept this as a Broadway exclusive and not a full blown movie.

I know that this movie has recieved a lot of positive feedback, but purely from a viewer's perspective, this was hard to sit through for me. After being exposed to such incredible web series like the TVF Aspirants, this was quite the hit and miss for me. The film moved at a very slow pace and oscillated inconsistently between a love story, a UPSC aspirant's struggle to clear the country's toughest entrance exam, and a family's battle against corrupt beurocracy. Not to mention in the final climax of the movie, where there is a UPSC interview, one can hardly consider that to be anywhere close to the real thing especially after watching mock interviews of eminent institutes like Drishti IAS. There is a very noticeable display of a lack of research that was done for this film. Overall, the 3 stars are for Bollywood's bold attempt at showcasing a fresh and unconventional plot, along with Vikrant Massey's brilliant acting, which to me, has to be his career's best performance so far. Although I don't really value the filmfare, zee cine, or iafa awards, but I believe this is Bollywood's best chance to salvage the credibility of its award shows and hand the best actor award to Vikrant Massey for his performance in this movie.

Just finished watching this film and I have mixed feelings about it. The cinematography, war sequences, locations, were nothing short of absolute cinematic brilliance. I was completely engrossed in the timeline of the movie and felt Ridley Scott left no stone unturned on the visual details of this film. However moving to the core aspects of the movie, such as the plot, the acting, there were some serious drawbacks that I observed. The plot doesn't have a constant momentum and it fluctuates heavily between different emotions and sequences, not leaving any room for an emotional attachment or reverence to probably the greatest general of all time. It almost seemed to me that the movie was directed from a predominantly English point of view(Scott being English) and there were so many instances were Napoleon was thoroughly humiliated and made fun of, clearly revealing the English mindset about him. His character was shown as clumsy, funny, short tempered and incapable of living up to the reputation that he amassed throughout his lifetime. I am pretty sure most of France would absolutely boycott this film given how poorly Napoleon has been portrayed here. Coming to the acting, Joaquin Phoenix has been thoroughly unutilised in this film and his performance pales in comparison to his previous movies. But I don't blame him, the director didn't leave much room for him to stretch his strength. Overall, a disappointing movie that fails to live up to the stature of probably the greatest general of all time.

I can't even begin to explain how utterly disgusted I am after watching this 3hr nightmare. I tried hard but couldn't find a single iota of cinematic brilliance in this so called 'unconventional movie'. I was initially a bit interested with how the story progressed, but exteremely disappointed at how it eventually turned out to be. To be brutally honest, Ranbeer's character is no different from that of the son of any B grade Bollywood movie villain, swearing to take revenge on his father's attcker/killer. The plot is extremely predictable with no twist and turns. The action scenes were badly choreographed, the sex scenes looked cheap and extremely out of place, eg Bobby Deol consummating with his newly wedded wife in front of everyone shortly after murdering his own accomplice, I mean really?? Was that even required? Bobby Deol's character was just horrible. I could never understand how he would agree to sign up for this. There is literally no depth to his role. His character is as forgettable and shallow as any B grade movie villain. Anil Kapoor and Rashmika Mandanna were the only silver linings on this dark horrendous cloud. Their performances were solid and kept me engaged to this otherwise quite boring story. The post credit scene also makes me a bit hopeful for the sequel. Overall, I am very disappointed, not just at this film but at our viewers who encourage such misogynistic themed movies to be commercially successful and indirectly are promoting such themes. I would give this movie two stars, only for the hairline thin twist during the post credit scene, but tbh I'm not that optimistic about the sequel, given its being done by the same director. My verdict: save your money and avoid this in the theatres. Wait for the OTT release, its not worth more than that.

Just done watching this movie and I have mixed feelings about it. On the one hand, I feel they touched upon a very crucial topic of caste based discrimination and violence. The direction, bgm, cinematography was on point. One the other hand, I felt the movie was very slow and not unidirectional in its flow. It kept oscillating between the primary plot(the murder of the 2 dalit girls, and the missing 3rd one) and the story of Nishad and BSS along. The toggling between the primary plot and the larger plot of caste based politics kept happening at an irregular pace to the point that you would soon lose interest in both of them. The ending also had some unanswered questions, like what happened to the main antagonist Ramlal Niharia who wasnt even shown in the movie, yet he was controlling the police, CBI and even got Nishad murdered. Overall, a one time watch for me. Could've been better in its execution.
