This movie is terrible. I mean seriously did the director and producers even read the books or watch the prior movies at all? This movie is in the lineup as being the movie that continues after Jack Ryan Shadow Recruit. “Cathy” and “Ryan” met while he was still in the military and she helped him relearn how to walk. She even was part of his mission in Russia. But in Sum Of All Fears you want me to believe that Cathy never met Ryan until after he was in the CIA? Same thing with Clark. Clark was not introduced to Ryan until Clear and Present Danger 4 movies after Sum Of All Fears. So why didn’t they know each other already in Clear and Present Danger? Why did Ryan and Clark have to be reintroduced to each other as if they had never met? Why wouldn’t you follow the movie timeline? Also Ben Affleck was hands down the absolute WORST actor for the role of Ryan. He made the character look and act like an incapable wet noodle. Again “Shadow Recruit” Ryan was on top of his game a great strategist, able to think on his feet, and not afraid to go toe to toe with anyone regardless of rank or position. Harrison’s Ryan was even better at it. But Ben’s Ryan couldn’t make a move without guidance from Cabot. You made him an ignorant frat boy who seemed to know nothing about his job and to government workings. On the phone telling his girlfriend he was in the CIA and what his mission was. He was supposed to have been a Marine. He knows already it’s illegal to do that. What do I do?” Seemed to be his catch phrase. Also. The Nuke. This was a laughable attempt. So you’re telling me that the man in the Middle East who found it and was “exposed” to it was dying by the end of the movie from radiation sickness, but no one else who came in contact with it were dying? And let’s talk about the actual explosion. Clearly the director doesn’t know how one works. That stadium would have been incinerated. Everyone would have died. But yet the president has time to get the message, run out of the stadium, get in a vehicle, and drive out of a Nuclear blast radius to be the only man who survived in the motorcade? Come on. Finally, why aren’t we introduced to the man who actually set the bomb off? Where’s his story? You want to say just as a off-handed comment that his father was executed in Nuremberg for being a Nazi. Wasn't he supposed to be middle eastern?
This movie was a mess from start to finish. A complete waste of time.
