It’s amazing how well the children turned out, it truly is a testament of how resilient children can be & it’s a beautiful thing to see, but this movie was not a true documentary, and is more of a family biography, as it included no details on what exactly happened to land the family into the predicament they found themselves in, which was prison for breaking the law. They don’t give you the real facts. I don’t quite understand what Mrs Richardson expected the courts to do, no one made her get into the car and drive her husband and nephew to the bank with the intent to rob it. Constantly it seemed as though she tried to blame the “system” on why she and her husband were arrested & incarcerated, not taking accountability or having any remorse or regret for the choices she made that got her and him into the prison system. While I do agree the husbands sentence was excessive, there is always consequences for our choices, and the only one’s in this movie I felt badly for, and who I believe are truly “victims” were the kids, who lost time with both their parents and had to grow up a lot faster than they should have, but somehow by the grace Of God seemed to have persevered and have not made themselves victims of circumstance and become a statistic, but have become educated, polite, handsome, members of society despite their parents BAD decisions. The “documentary” should be about that, about how these beautiful amazing children, now young men, got through all these years of stress and heartache to become who they are today.
