It should be called Star Trek Estrogen, there are more female officers and aliens than every other Star Trek. Their reaction to everything involves crying and hugs, and ultimately a female character breaking rules to go with her intuition only to be proven right and morally superior.
Did I mention the hugging? It's worth mentioning again. If you made a Discovery drinking game where you take a shot for every hug, you could kiss your liver goodbye in the first episode you played.
Back to the ovaries overload. Burnam saves all life in the universe with help from her mother.. Spok is only great because of his sister's influence. Tilly is raised from ensign to first officer over others who rank higher than her because everyone loves her so much. The Klingon empire ends up in the control of a female, who makes an earth man her b!*ch. The villain Terran empress is a woman. The future Vulcan President is a woman. Spok's mother pushes Sarek around. It's a female oriented phasor fest and I'm struggling through season 3 with less and less interest.
I don't care that there's a gay couple, but they suck face more than Miles O'Brien and Kaiko ever did. There's also a butch lesbian engineer who advises the lost gay guys on their relationship because she knows better than they do. She is also key in Burnam saving the universe.
The human men of the future have little to do with things, except that they've left a mess that females have to fix. If they are in power, they will be ignored and proven wrong by a female.
That's Star Trek Discovery. Tell me where I'm wrong. I'm just a guy, so I've got that coming.
