Reading this book was compulsory as a freshman in high school. I don’t recall anything about Miss Haversham being an opium user. Did I miss this? And I thought Estella was supposed to be a beautiful young lady. The actress portraying the role was pretty but she was made to look dull and somewhat shabby. If anything, I want to reread this book again. I mean, it was 55 years ago when I first had to read it. I’m not real fond of revisionist writing. Hmmm.

Olga Merediz’ reprised role of Abuela Claudia was the perfect choice. Finally a role that showcases her talent and proves her to be a legendary performer. But you cannot dismiss the incredible amount of talent in so many fresh and new talent to hit the silver screen. Anthony Ramos gives an incredible performance as Usbavi. A must see movie that showcases a multi-cultural balance of the Latin experience.

Fun, exciting and a highly imaginative film that kept me entertained from the first minutes.
