I don’t even get how something can be 5 stars if it’s technically not compatible for current gen at the time. I think I’ll pass this year as well, and I’ve bought pretty much every Pokémon generation game. I gave it 3 stars off the simple fact that you can see what they want to do but I mean I’m not paying what is it? 70 bucks for a game thats just choppy…
The art work to me is horrible as well. I do t get what’s happening here. All of the Pokémon seem robotic…where are the more realistic Pokémon like we used to have like Tauros or pigeot. You get legendaries right away which is odd to me at least kinda takes away that finish the game and catch them with either a master ball or grind to catch with basic poke ball aspect.
I also wish they’d stick to one strategic upgrade and I’m referring to the “mega evolutions” “dynamax” etc idk what this is this year. YeA strategically speaking it’s nice but again it’s lazy…and ruins the image of the Pokémon itself. Mega evolution was great but now that’s only on pokemon tcg from my understanding. Dynamax was iffy but it grew on me but I can’t see how this new crystallization buff is nice.
The last thing I want to bring up is the ability to challenge any gym immediately…kinda defeats the point of you ask me..you grind to beat the highest gym leader then what? You KO the beginner gyms? I get it a a choice but again it’s taking away from what Pokémon was. If you want to make it a grind why not just add restrictions? Maybe limiting the amount of items as you go against stronger gym leaders or capping the amount of Pokémon per gym??? Again these are suggestions on my end but I can only imagine how easy the game immediately becomes if you take that route, especially how easy it is to level up now compared to back then…yea I gotta give it 3 and that’s only because of the open world aspect..
