Movies like this evoke an emotion that's a little deeper than happiness or sadness. What's presented as an a-typical romance quickly transitions into a much more defined plot about the discovery of one's sexuality in the midst of a climate averse to the idea. I almost stopped watching towards the end since I tend to despise the stereotypical sad endings many LGBT movies usually have, but I'm glad I stuck it out. It's worth the watch for a variety of reasons if not to present the idea that love transcends time and place.

This movie is extremely wholesome and honestly, it doesn't deserve the flak it gets. For what it is, it's a very sweet movie and worth the watch. Found myself smiling multiple times at the many cute moments.
